I'm honoured to be featured in the summer 2025 issue of Art Hesrstory Magazine - a publication dedicated to celebrating women artists whose creative voices have shaped art history and continue to define the contemporary art landscape. This issue, curated by Art Queens Gallery, highlights leading contemporary women artists from around the world, including several remarkable Canadian Artists working in diverse mediums.

About Art Herstory

Founded by Erika Gaffney, Art Herstory was created to reclaim and celebrate the often-overlooked legacies of woman throughout art history. the magazine shines a spotlight on both historical and contemporary creators - bridging centuries of female creativity through engaging interviews, essays, and artist features.

Erika's mission reflects a truth shared by many woman in the arts:

"History is full of remarkable women artists whose stories deserve to be told"

My Feature: " Woven Light - The Art of Lindsey McTavish"

This issue features my series Woven Light, which explores how fabric, colour, and texture become storytelling mediums in my fibre art practice. As a Contemporary Canadian Fibre Artist based in Nelson British Columbia, I use wool & silk to interpret the shifting light, energy, and emotional landscapes of Canada's natural world.

My work transforms traditional textile techniques into modern fine art - blending realism and abstraction to evoke movement, memory, and connection.

Through this feature, Art Herstory captures the essence of my approach - transforming natural fibres into textured paintings that reflect how light and emotion move through the Canadian landscape.

Alongside my work, this issue highlights other leading women in contemporary art, including Angela Thouless, Annick Van Barneveld, and Gabriela Dellosso. Together, we represent a global community of Female artists redefining the boundaries of modern art, each weaving our own narratives into the broader story of creativity and resilience.

A Celebration Of Canadian and Global Woman Artists

Being featured in Art Herstory Magazine is deeply meaningful - not only as recognition of my own practice but also as a part of a collective to elevate Canadian Woman Artists on thew international stage. As both an artist and curator, I'm passionate about contributing to this dialogue through my textile work, my role at The Craft Connection Gallery in Nelson, and my fashion label lindsey M Collections.
