Canadian contemporary fibre artist Lindsey Mctavish creates richly textured works in wool and silk, inspired by landscapes, memory, and human connection
Working between Nelson, British Columbia and Georgian Bay, Ontario, McTavish transforms fibre into painterly compositions layered with colour, texture and emotion. Her work draws deeply from the Canadian landscape - from the forests and mountains of the west to the windswept islands, water and rock of Georgian Bay.
Exhibited and published internationally, her contemporary felted artworks invite a closer look at both the places we inhabit and the experiences we carry with us.
THE WORK
Built layer by layer from wool and silk, each piece begins with colour, texture and feeling. McTavish uses fibre as a painter would use pigment—creating depth, movement and light through a medium that remains unmistakably tactile.
